A modern home is traditionally supposed to be different and strange, yet still pleasing to the eyes. For my design, I used a combination of flat surfaces, sharp corners, and dramatic windows to make the structure stand out and appear more as a work of abstract art opposed to a home.
The house is modern in utilities as well as in fashion.  Being located on a well lit hill top, the usage of solar panels provides a cost effective and green way to help power the home.  Another energy saving method applied to the design is the use of large and frequent windows.  Natural lighting is an environmentally conscious way to cut the electricity bill.  These same windows also allow for ample viewing of the outside while being refletive so as not to compromise the privacy of its owners.  Occasional decks and balconys also provide areas to confortably take in the surrounding landscape.  The structure itself in certain areas is also built into the land, opposed to on top of it, allowing the earth to be used as a natural insulator to reduce the cost of heating lower rooms, as well as adding a unique look to the house.
