Chicken Coop

Creating the Coop

This was my first rhino project.  I wasn't too familiar with the commands in this program, so I just used my CAD knowledge and experimented with the new commands.  When I understood the basics, I began with actually creating a simple project, which ended up being a chick coop.  I started off by just creating a basic box design elevated by legs.  I then added two small areas separated by a thin wall for individual chickens to sit, with a small door behind each one to get any eggs. I then cut out a section of the wall on one side to serve as a window.  I also cut out a section of the floor allowing access to a small latter leading to the ground.

Doors and Openings

In the front of the coop, I added a door that lifts upward but also allows you to see inside.  On top there is another opening that also lifts upward.  On the very bottom of the coop by the front left leg is another door that opens outward.  This bottom area of the coop was intended to allow the chickens to walk around and the door can open to allow for them to graze in and out at will.

Details

I finished the project up by adding small details to the coop by using the limited commands I knew at the time.  I added two metal hoops to place locks through to secure all the openings and doors shut.  I also added handles to the doors.  I used the surface tool to make a chain link fence for the front of the coop, the window, and the bottom grazing area.  I finally added a metal plug in as a color for the fence and metal hoops and a wood plug in for the coop itself.
