Fish Tank Project
Design and Style
For my aquarium I took a unique aproach to its design. Insead of the usual rectangular shape, I went with a curvey quarter-circle one that is intended to fit confomtably into a corner of a room. This choice presented unique problems in that I had to make sure that I was aware of the glass' shape of all times so that as objects approached the surface of the water they did not accidently poke through the walls of the tank.
I chose a Roman theme for tank, as many proffesional aquariums in real life have themes. I made a set of stairs which have been slightly covered by the substrate of the tank which lead up to three roman-style columns. Also, to add to realism of my tank, below the waterline I made the glass appear murkier and greener, while above the waterline the glass is prestine and clean. Most fresh-water fish tanks in real life have a slightly green tint to them due to the constant filth being added to the water by the fish, so I felt that a completely clear tank would be unrealistic.
Feedback/Reflection
Throughout my project I constantly recieved feedback on my project from my peers. I revieced a suggestion that my tank would look more realistic with plants rather than just rocks or convetional aquarium ornaments, so I created a vine-like leafy plant to add to the realism of the tank. I also was informed that my fish should be smaller so I made them their appropriate sizes which had a positive affect on the tank's asthetics. Through observing other projects I also addapted the idea of using an unveven bumpy surface with a bitmap texture of sand and rocks as a substrate for my aquarium, which I felt was a very good addition.
I feel that my project came out very well in that my tank is orginal and contains realistic addaptions of actual fish in a uniquely themed and shaped tank. I feel that in the future my designs could get more detailed and that the knowledge and use of more techincal commands and techniques would positiviely infulence my work.
